AzureDé shares the powerful meaning behind her new single ‘Light To Land’

South African singer-songwriter AzureDé has released her new three-Step single, “Light To Land”.

The single “Light To Land” came at a time of reflection for the KwaZulu-Natal native, and she was elated at its arrival on digital streaming services and local radio stations.

“I wanted to put together something that spoke about not just wanting to be the change you want to see in the world, but being that change within yourself. Sometimes we’re looking for things outside ourselves that we actually have to find within,” shared the musician with IOL.

AzureDé, when she put the song together, had taken a look at everything that was going on in the world and was inspired.

“I had taken a look at everything that was going on in the world – all the craziness in different countries – and at the same time I was having conversations with people navigating their own struggles. ‘Light to Land’ came from all of that.”

Earlier this year, AzureDé released an EP, “Love Is Not Enough”, cementing her position in the music industry. She has certainly come a long way since her first single “Blow My Mind” in 2024.

Reflecting on her musical journey, AzureDé said that every step she has taken has been a step in the right direction.

“It’s important for me to stop sometimes and realise it’s really been quite a journey from releasing my first single in 2024 to now having several songs out.”

She’s been fortunate to work with artists like Heavy K and Lady Du and has a few collaborations up her sleeve. AzureDé explained that when it comes to collaborations, energy is everything to her.

“People can have all the clout in the world, but if we don’t connect and the energy isn’t right, I’m okay with passing on those opportunities.”

For AzureDé, intentionality has been at the centre of it all, from her time, energy and effort as it carries into her music. “From the genre I’ve chosen to my song titles and sharing parts of my journey through my songs.”

While AzureDé has been intentional about making three-step music, that doesn’t mean she’s not going to explore and venture into other things. A look through her Instagram account shows just how creative and expressive AzureDé is, from fashion to makeup.

“What’s most important is having the confidence to pull off whatever you’re wearing. Even the simplest outfit can look amazing when you wear it with confidence.”

Speaking about what’s next, AzureDé said that the music video “Light To Land” will be out soon. “I also have more music and some very cool features in the pipeline that I can’t say too much about just yet.” – IOL
