HIGHLANDERS chose to flounder, huff and puff at the wrong time when its legion of fans expected a much polished and well-oiled machine that would challenge for honours in the 2019 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
When Bosso sneezes, the whole country apparently catches a cold.
And the cold is getting unbearable for the Bosso faithfuls.
We are not prophets of doom but if the situation at Highlanders doesn’t change, the patience of fans that is wearing thin, might just vanish.
Of course supporters must stay calm, if they choose to go to the stadiums. However, it’s a known secret that football is a game of emotions.
Something or someone at Bosso must go, according to fans.
Highlanders were expected to challenge for top honours, they have only managed a gloomy harvest so far.
Let us now get down to work now that clubs legends opine that we all need to do the little we can to make sure that this institution survives this dry season.
Former Bosso player and coach Rahman Gumbo feels that Highlanders are in dire need of psychologists who will psyche up the boys’ confidence.
He is not the only club legend who registered his concern on this great institution that is nearing 100 years of existence.
Gumbo together with Amini Soma Phiri, Douglas Mloyi and Barry Daka feel that Bosso, a team that is yet to score and win at Barbourfields Stadium, has gone to the dogs!
The boys in black and white have failed to live to their expectations; it does not need any Biblical Solomonic wisdom for one to discover that they have become a mockery to this beautiful game.
At a time when they are associated with relegation vocabulary, Mloyi in his advanced age, found it weird that he has been prolific in front of goal for his social soccer team Cream Tata while Madinda Ndlovu whose charges are in demise, are yet to score at Emagumeni, let alone register a win in front of their passionate fans.
“It boggles the mind that at my age I have been scoring regularly for my social team and this current crop of players at Highlanders are finding it hard to do so,” said Mloyi as Bosso went on to chase shadows against Herentals last weekend.
With no solution in sight, conspiracy theories have emerged.
Question: Will Bosso manage to turn the corner after reportedly finding themselves in an even worse situation in 1983 under then mentor Bobby Clarke?
Answer: Only time will tell, as we say Come on Bosso, Wake up Tshilamoya!
