This year’s showbiz calendar has started on a sad note for music promoter Josphat Hozheri who over the weekend suffered a blow after fire destroyed property worth thousands of dollars at his joint Ice and Fire Pamuzinda.
Thatched main gazebo and roof of the path to the toilets were reduced to ashes by the inferno.
Property that includes two LCD television sets, fridges, decoders and projectors was destroyed in the inferno and the workers escaped uninjured.
The disaster came during a time when Hozheri was preparing for shows lined up for his venue in February.
The first gig is scheduled for February 5 featuring top musicians Oliver Mtukudzi, Suluman Chimbetu and Soul Jah Love and the second one featuring Jah Prayzah and will take place later that month. By yesterday investigations had not established the cause of the fire.
“We are still conducting investigations on what started the fire but we suspect that the fire started when one of the security guards took fire into the gazebo,” he said.
The former owner of popular joint Jazz 105 said renovations will begin this week and the shows will go ahead as planned.
“I have been running around since the disaster and what I can say is that renovations begin this week so that our shows will not be affected. Yesterday operations were normal though the disaster was a major blow,” he said.
Hozheri said though it was disturbing but they thank God that no loss of life and injuries were recorded.
“Thank God that all the workers escaped uninjured. It could have been worse if we had that situation. I am sure by the end of this month all will be fine,” he said.
