Bag-snatcher stabbed 13 times

after he had allegedly been chased by a group of revellers from a night club in Tshovani, Chiredzi, where he had allegedly snatched the cash.
Police also recovered the bag containing 9 600 rands which the suspect had allegedly snatched at the night club before he tried to flee.
The money was recovered a few metres from the body. Masvingo police spokesperson Inspector Peter Zhanero said investigations were still under way to establish who had killed the man.
He said the body was taken to Chiredzi district hospital for a post-mortem.
“The suspect was chased by a group of people after he snatched a bag containing nearly 10 000 rands from people who had offered him a lift and by the time police discovered his body it had been dumped in a sewer and he had been stabbed 13 times all over the body,” said Insp Zhanero.
He said police are yet to identify the man, as he did not have any identification papers. According to police the deceased was on Friday evening offered a lift by three men from Tshovani to Zaka. The three men decided to stop at a nightclub in Tshovani for a drink.
Just after midnight as the suspect and the three men were drinking beer while sitting in their car, the former allegedly snatched a bag in the car that contained 10 000 rand cash and took to his heels.
The men gave chase while shouting for help and several other revellers joined in the chase.
The three men also rushed to Chiredzi police station to make a report and police joined the manhunt.
They then found the man’s body dumped in a sewer drain with an Okapi knife in one of his pockets.
