ACE Zimbabwean junior motocross rider Emmanuel Bako continued with his fine form in the South African circuit this year when he cruised to yet another victory in the 65cc and 85cc (Juniors) classes in sensational fashion during round one of the 2018 Kwazulu-Natal Regional Championship series in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday.
Fresh from winning the same classes in the second round of the South African Northern Regions Championship series at Dirt Bronco in Krugersdorp the previous weekend, Bako, a 12-year-old Grade Six pupil at Heritage School in Harare, was on fire in Pietermaritzburg where he once again went on the attack from the gates, obliterating the opposition without raising much of a sweat.
In the 65cc Class, Bako came first ahead of two South African riders Wyatt McGregor and Levi Bekker before he took the first step on the podium again in the 85cc Class where he beat Luke Grundy and Troy Muraour (both of South Africa) into second and third place respectively.
Bako, who is excelling and getting faster in every race meeting in South Africa this year, came first in his two heats in the 65cc Class in which he lapped most of his rivals despite not having raced in the MMC&CC track in Pietermaritzburg before. He was a big surprise in the 85cc Class where he also came first in both heats, getting hole shots as he left his South African rivals chasing shadows for most of the day on the heavy track. There was a heavy storm in Pietermaritzburg towards the end of last week, resulting in the MMC&CC track getting heavy but Bako took it to his advantage as he is used to riding in heavy rains, especially during the Zimbabwe Summer Series which is held annually in December at Donnybrook here in Harare.
