The production will run at Reps Theatre starting tomorrow until Sunday July 24, with 7pm performances tomorrow, Friday and Saturday and 2.30pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday.
The Dance Trust of Zimbabwe’s National Ballet is presenting a full-length classical ballet, the well-known Cinderella.
The South African Ballet Theatre has given permission for its senior soloist, Humberto Ruiz Montero, to dance the lead male role of Prince Charming.
This ballet is being produced by Gail Boardman, assisted by Eileen Fleet and Clare Hingeston, who have brought together a selection of classical compositions into a miscellany of music for this production.
The 40-strong cast ranges from 10-year-olds to the most polished senior dancers, among them the National Ballet of Zimbabwe’s principal dancers, Natalie Bradbury and Christie Clayton.
“It will be a superb show,” said Eve Stranix, administrator of the NBZ.
“The antics of the Ugly Sisters are hilarious. You cannot afford to miss this lavish show, which has a new slant on the ‘Rags to Riches’ story of ‘Cinders’. All in all you are guaranteed an extravaganza of dance and entertainment.”
“The audience is invited to dress up as Cinderella at the matinees and stand to win prizes,” said Ms Stranix.
“There is also a colouring competition and the winners in each age group stand to win tickets to the show. Interested people can call the National Ballet for more details.”
Dress rehearsal night is Wednesday July 20 at 7pm, when pensioners and children from disadvantaged homes are free.
