BINDURA United believe they will bounce back from a tough phase, which has seen them drop four points in two matches, and losing the leadership in the World Navi Northern Region Division One championship race.
The Bindura outfit spent the better part of the first half of the season at the top of the table in a duel with neighbours Mushowani.
But Gunners have emerged, in recent weeks, to challenge the Mashonaland Central teams and while Bindura were drawing their last two league ties, Chando Kupisa were winning their matches to shoot to the top of the table.
Bindura United are now second after being held to draws by Mushowani Stars and Flame Lilly in their last two matches.
But the club’s camp isn’t panicking yet. Club secretary Elias Banda said they were firmly in the race and will soon find their winning touch again.
To their credit, Bindura haven’t drawn against Mickey Mouse teams but sides that are among the leading group fighting for the championship.
“I think we are not performing badly at the moment but it’s the goals which are not coming our way,” said Banda.
“We are playing very well but we are coming shot in front of goals only which I hope will come to an end very soon.
“We had two tough games and it was good that we managed to come out with points from both games because Mushowani and Flame Lilly are playing well.”
Banda said they were not concerned that Gunners have risen to the top of the table.
“We came into the race to win and give a challenge to our opponents so we do not look at any particular team but treat each game as a challenge,” said Banda.
“There are a lot of good teams that are doing well and that is why we are playing in the same league so we will not look at teams differently.
“The good thing is we have been negotiating for some players with other clubs and some have also approached us, so we are happy that we will have some additions to our club very soon.
“We still have several games to play during the second leg so we are not looking into anything much yet.”
Bindura United now trail Gunners by a point while seasoned campaigners Flame Lilly and Mushowani are piling on the pressure.
In the Zifa Central Region ZRP Beitbridge moved within two points of log leaders Hwahwa.
ZRP Beitbridge beat Hwahwa 2-1 at Dulibadzimu.
