FIRST CAPITAL BANK ZIMBABWE last week donated critical chemotherapy and hormone therapy medications valued at US$5 000 to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, partnering with CancerServe Trust to support disadvantaged cancer patients.
Speaking at the handover ceremony on Friday, First Capital Bank chief executive officer Mr Tapera Mushoriwa said the donation was more than just a corporate social responsibility initiative, but a strong statement on the importance of women’s health.
“This partnership aims to achieve three goals, which are raising awareness through cancer prevention and treatment; supporting access to critical drugs and medical equipment for cancer patients; and ease the financial burden on patients and their families,” he said.
CancerServe Trust founder Dr Anna Nyakabau highlighted the significance of the donation, describing it as a direct contribution to the vision of universal health coverage, where no woman should have to choose between feeding her family and fighting for her life.
“We gather to officially hand over essential medication to the gyn-oncology and oncology department medication made possible through the generosity of First Capital Bank, which donated US$5 000 to CancerServe for this cause.
“This contribution is not just a financial transaction, it is a lifeline for many underserved cancer patients, ensuring that those who might have struggled to access treatment now have a chance to fight the disease.
“First Capital Bank has been a steadfast partner to CancerServe for three years, standing with us in our mission to bring hope and care to those affected by cancer.
“With these medications, we must move closer to a reality where every woman, regardless of her socioeconomic status, receives the care she deserves.”
