THE National Merchant Bank (NMB) Limited has taken former national cricket team player Heath Hilton Streak to court for allegedly failing to repay a loan of more than $14,000.
NMB yesterday filed summons at the Bulawayo High Court seeking an order that compels Streak to pay an overdue amount of $14,374,97.
The bank through its lawyers Dube-Tachiona and Tsvangirai accuses Streak of breaching the contract by neglecting to pay the money despite demand.
The bank said it gave Streak a loan of $28,000 which was payable over a period of 36 months.
The money, according to the bank, was payment for a balance for improvements on a Ford Ranger T6 “at his specific instance and request.”
The bank was to recover the money through Streak’s current account held with the lender.
Streak would start repaying the loan starting April 30, 2013. Part of the contract stated that in the event that Streak repaid the money beyond the agreed dates, it attracted a penalty of 36 percent per annum.
NMB also wants Streak to pay the cost of suit.
