A BANKET woman is appealing to well-wishers to help her three-year- old daughter who is suffering from a heart condition.

Cardiologists have recommended that the child go to India to have corrective surgery.

The child, Anotidaishe Fungulani has a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. It is a heart condition that babies are born with.

Her mother, Letwin Chitunhu, told H- Metro, she is having sleepless nights because of her daughter’s condition.

Her husband disappeared on hearing the child’s condition.

“My husband went away to Mazowe claiming to seek employment. Since then. We have never heard from him. He is not even reachable. I don’t even know where he is. I am struggling to buy her medicine and other basic needs,” she said.

She said Fungulani needs open-heart surgery to fix the four defects in the heart.

She came to know of Anotidaishe’ s condition after she had a fever.  The family stays in Banket.

However, while at the doctor, the baby cried and the doctor disclosed that the child had a heart condition.  The fever was treated, and she was advised to go to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital to see a paediatric doctor for further management.

“After two weeks, Matidaishe got well, and I took her to Chinhoyi hospital. The paediatric doctor told us that our baby had a hole in her heart measuring 10 millimetres and a vein that was blocking the normal pumping of blood to the heart,” said Chitunhu

She added:

“He explained that it was the reason her fingers were swollen on the nails and had a blue like colour in the mouth.

“She was then put on propranolol and was then discharged from hospital,” she said.

Chitunhu said around end of April. We once again consulted the doctor and asked him about what was happening and she was put on medication.

“However, on May 3, while about to go bank to Banket from the surgery, Anotidaishe then tried to cry because of the pain and was no longer talking and turning her eyes upside down and crying uncontrollably,” said Chitunhu.
