MUTARE’S premier night spot, Bar Code is upholding its status as an upmarket club by tightening its security and vigilance to thwart abuse of drugs and illegal substances within its environs.
Of late, numerous night clubs and bars in Mutare in particular and Manicaland at large have become havens of drug and illegal substances abuse, with personnel providing cover to perpetrators of illegal intoxicating substances consumers.
However, in a refreshing stance that dovetails into Government’s ongoing efforts to weed out drug and substance abuse in communities, Manicaland’s leading upmarket night spot – Bar Code – has set measures aimed at deterring the menace.
Bar Code manager, Blessing Chitiyo, said the measures also include close supervision of employees for any possible abuse of drugs and illegal substances.
“We withhold our standards as an upmarket club and our work ethics are committed to keep the brand marketable and being among the elite in Manicaland and at a national level.
“Our security team ensures that our staff members and patrons are not under the influence of drugs. To those caught, we have one single golden rule which we enforce. We do not associate such members with our brand, and it is automatic dismissal after us as management has proved and investigated well,” said Chitiyo.
He added that the club will be playing its part in ensuring that the community around is free from drugs and illegal substances abuse.
“This is done through the proper disciplinary action which is immediate suspension pending investigation, investigation, hearing then the outcome of the hearing.
“Our motto is that we want a drug free society, and we take this as a serious matter,” he said.
