THE Zimbabwe National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ZNSPCA) has launched a manhunt and offered a US$1 000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man filmed brutally mutilating and killing a puppy in what is being described as a ritual killing.

In a statement, the animal welfare organisation said it had been flooded with reports and public outrage following the circulation of the graphic and disturbing video.
“The ZNSPCA is appealing to the public to help identify and locate the individual seen in the video where he is brutally mutilating and killing a puppy as part of a so-called ritual. The video further shows the man and others using the puppy’s blood in what they claim is a ‘healing’ ceremony,” said the organisation.

ZNSPCA said it was outraged and horrified by the barbaric act, and vowed to ensure the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.
“As the national authority responsible for enforcing animal welfare law, we are committed to using every legal and investigative means available to ensure those involved are identified, arrested, and prosecuted,” the statement read.

Members of the public with information are urged to contact the ZNSPCA or report to the nearest police station.
