Barca extend lead over Real, Atletico

LA LIGA leaders FC Barcelona extended their advantage over Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid following a slender win over Real Valladolid.

Ousmane Dembele and Kevin-Prince Boateng joined Lionel Messi in the attack as Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho dropped to the bench.

After a frustrating first half, Barca were awarded a penalty on the stroke of halftime, which Messi converted to hand his side the breakthrough.

The hosts were awarded a second penalty with five minutes remaining in the second half, but Messi was unable to convert again as Jordi Masip pulled off the save.

Ernesto Valverde’s men hung on for the win to move seven points clear Atletico, while Los Blancos are in action on Sunday and can reclaim second spot with a win.

Celta Vigo 4-1 Levante
Levante proved too for Celta Vigo as they romped to a 4-1 win at Abanca-Balaídos in Saturday’s early kick off.

A brace from Jose Luis Morales and a further strike from Coke put the hosts three goals up.

Brais Mendez pulled a goal back from the penalty spot on 88 minutes, but Borja Mayoral rounded off the victory for Levante a minute later.

Rayo Vallecano 0-1 Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid bounced back from last week’s derby defeat to defeat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 at the Estadio de Vallecas.

Antoine Griezmann netted the only goal of the game in the 74th minute to take his tally to 12 LaLiga goals.

Real Sociedad 3-0 Leganes
Real Sociedad proved too strong for Leganes after romping to a 3-0 win at the Estadio Municipal de Anoeta.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Mikel Oyarzabal netted a quick-fire brace while Willian Jose rounded off the scoring. — KickOff
