BaShupi’s tongue selfie trends

Showbiz Reporter
GODO hit-maker BaShupi (real name Peace Ndlovu) is trending on social media after a WhatsApp conversation in which he asks for sexy pics from a female “friend” leaked to the public. An adventurous BaShupi, who married his long time girlfriend, Wadzanai Gumbo, last year, was captured on screenshots flirting with a lady referred to as Nickie and begging for bedroom pictures.

Knowing that he was married, the lady, who is apparently from Bulawayo, decided to make BaShupi a fool, asking him to send absurd pictures as evidence that it was indeed him she was chatting with.

“Who’s this? . . . Why don’t I believe this . . . Send a selfie sticking your tongue out and your finger pointing to the sky. Maybe ndingaite believe,” Nickie texted to BaShupi.

The artiste complied and instantly sent the requested image to Nickie who responded by sending him smileys before reminding him that he was married.

He responded by confirming that he was married but said his marital status did not matter as his wife respected him and did not, in any instance, touch his phone.

The chats have gone viral with people poking fun at BaShupi’s selfie. He has become an Internet sensation as people are taking pictures with their tongues sticking out and fingers pointing to the sky, clearly in mockery of the artiste.

South Africa-based model, Oliver Keith, joined in on the fun by taking a “BaShupi selfie” and challenging his Facebook friends to join.

“I’ve noted with great concern that many Facebook accounts are ghost accounts or fake accounts . . . I’ve a challenge better known as the BaShupi Challenge, please comment on this thread with a selfie of yourself with your tongue out and pointing with your finger to the sky. I’ve led by example,” posted Keith.

Thereafter, the model’s Facebook account was flooded with images from his friends who wanted to prove they were not running ghost accounts.

The selfie craze was taken a gear up on Tuesday as some people requested that Cde Chinx take a selfie with his tongue sticking out to prove that he was alive following a death hoax.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear whether the screenshots between BaShupi and Nickie were real or graphic design creations. The mobile number which appears is, however, his.

Efforts to get a comment from BaShupi yesterday were fruitless as his mobile phone went unanswered.
