THE countdown is on! The 2026 athletics season kicks off in style as the Cross-Country Series heats up, with the national finals slated for Bindura on 22 November.
Provincial showdowns are expected soon, with teams scrambling to secure spots in the inter-provincial championships. Only the fastest and fiercest will make it to Bindura, where glory – and a ticket to the World Athletics Cross-Country Championships in Tallahassee, USA on 10 January – awaits.
“This is where discipline meets dreams,” said Manuel Mpofu, competitions boss at the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe. “We’re looking for athletes who can read the course, adapt to pace changes, and finish with authority. Strong performances in Bindura will form the backbone of Team Zimbabwe for Tallahassee.”
While provincial finals dates are still under wraps, the next two and a half months promise fierce battles as athletes leave nothing on the track, chasing the ultimate prize – representing Zimbabwe on the world stage.
Bindura is set to be the proving ground where speed, stamina, and strategy collide. This is one series no athlete – or fan – will want to miss.
