Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has expressed his disappointment following his charges’ 3-0 loss to AS Vita Club of DRC in the Caf Champions League on Sunday. The loss poses the danger of missing the group stages but Baxter remains optimistic they can turn the tables in the second leg to be played at the FNB Stadium next Saturday.
“We lost 3-0 here and, as we have said earlier, with a two-legged game, this is the first half,” said Baxter.
“If anyone thinks the tie is over, they must think again. I have been involved in a game in Sweden where we reversed a 5-3 score line against Galatasaray by beating them 5-1 at home. Football is a funny game,” added the Amakhosi mentor.
Baxter believes Chiefs created enough chances to win or at least score against Vita and said they will be going for broke in the return leg.
“We will have to hit them with an early goal at home to get back into the game,” said Baxter.
“The game was level at the start and, by the time they scored their first chance, we had created about two chances already. Even after they scored their first goal it was still an even game. When they scored the third we had to prevent another goal, which would have killed the game. Still we had two big chances that we couldn’t convert,” added the Chiefs boss.
Baxter believes conditions had a lot to do with the result and also said the return match will be a different ball game all together.- Kickoff.
