BBA praise life skills seminar

THE Bulawayo Basketball Association (BBA) has hailed the life skills seminar that was conducted for players by Youth.com at Khanyisile Sports Centre (formerly Bulawayo Club for the Disabled or BCD) at the weekend. Twenty-seven youths attended the workshop and BBA president for women and youths Charmaine Chirinda said they would hold more such workshops every fortnight.

“We’re happy with the turnout and also want to organise a similar workshop for the coaches on how to treat female players during training sessions and matches,” said Chirinda.

She said holding such seminars regularly would help equip players with an awareness of their roles in society and shape their future.

After the workshop, basketball games resumed and Angels beat Lupane State University women 56-18, with Eleanor Doma scoring 19 points for the winners.

Highlanders narrowly beat Lakers’ juniors 20-19 and Lakers’ seniors dismissed Nust 59-24.

In the men’s games, Oilers beat Lupane State University 80- 22. City Knights fell 39-60 to a youthful Nust and defending champions Southern Mavericks overcame Highlanders 58-36.

Meanwhile, BBA teams will take part in the Bob@92 Tournament this weekend in Harare to mark the 92nd birthday of President Robert Mugabe.
