SCHOOL leavers, with or without Ordinary Level passes but as long as they are literate, have been invited by the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) to enrol for the Vocational Training Programme that will cover 17 courses.
In a statement, BCC town clerk, Mr Christopher Dube said applicants are expected to avail themselves at the Tshaka Vocational Training Centre on 26 June for interviews.
Eligible school leavers, both male and female, must be aged between 14 and 24 years of age.
Only persons with disabilities should be accompanied by a parent, guardian or an aide.
“The City of Bulawayo would like to advise members of the public that the 2024 June Vocational Training Programme intake will be on Wednesday, 26 June from 8am to 4pm at the Tshaka Vocational Training Centre, 6th Avenue Extension, opposite Mzilikazi Police Station,” said Mr Dube.
Interested persons must avail themselves for face-to-face interviews at the Tshaka Vocational Training Centre and should bring their national identity documents (IDs) or birth certificates.
Courses on offer include motor mechanics, painting, plumbing, building, carpentry, wielding, agriculture, horticulture and solar installations. For individuals interested in pottery, fine art, dressmaking, commercial art and hotel and catering can also pick their choice from the list of courses on offer. Ceramic, wood and sculpture, cellphone and TV repairs as well as hairdressing and beauty courses will also be part of the BCC’s Vocational Training Programme.
“Residents are also advised that short courses are available for organised groups and that all three-year courses include attachment and trade tests. Only applicants should attend the interviews and residents are also advised that limited places are available,” said Mr Dube.
