Women should be innovative and united in order to meaningfully contribute to the country’s development, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Mutoko North legislator Cde Mable Chinomona has said. Addressing scores of women from Ward 5 in Karengwe district, Mashonaland East province, who had just finished business entrepreneurship courses last week, Cde Chinomona said the new political dispensation was pushing for women empowerment in all spheres.

“This new dispensation is initiating the empowerment of women in all provinces. Through this new dispensation, all those women who are innovative and hardworking will benefit as long as they have project ideas.
“I came here today to support you and let me commend you for not being lazy; it’s through your hard work that development in this nation could be achieved,” said Cde Chinomona.
She took a swipe at women who have a tendency of degrading their peers.

“As women, let us help each other, let us support each other, not demotivate or pull each other down, but unite and work towards changing our lives.

“The President himself needs women in higher positions in Government, so how can we be given those positions if we cannot support each other? If we are jealousy of each other, who will come and support us?” she said.
She also urged women to answer the First Lady Auxilla Mnangagwa’s call to be screened for cancer.

Cde Chinomona, who was accompanied by Labour and Social Welfare Minister Petronella Kagonye (Goromonzi South MP), among others, toured stands where women were showcasing products ranging from honey, farm produce and chickens.
Minister Kagonye commended the womenand urged them to work hard for themselves and the nation.
