Be true to yourself

HOW many times have you beaten yourself up for doing things you did not want to do, pretending to have an interest in things that didn’t interest you or tolerating certain treatment from other people yet you knew that you deserved better? This ticks a lot of boxes for some of us and frankly speaking it is our fault because we allowed things to happen to us.

What you allow continues

From unfulfilled relationships to hanging around with people that don’t see your true worth, you might think that some people are treating you unfairly yet you are the one who is allowing it to happen. No one is doing anything to you. You are the one who is subjecting yourself to such treatment. The reason why you are still there is only known to you.

Limitations

You are actually your own limitation. The reason you don’t think you can make it without that partner who doesn’t regard you much, why you are sticking to a job that isn’t really serving you anymore, the reason why you are still hanging out with people who look down upon you is because you don’t think that you can get a better partner, a better job or friends that you will actually click with. So in this sense you are the one who is limiting yourself to crumbs instead of reaching for the skies.

Fear is debilitating

That fear that is keeping you fixated on crumbs is actually imagined. Yes, it does not exist. It is something that you made up in your mind and instead of daydreaming and building castles in the air you actually went the opposite direction which is what is keeping you stuck in one place. Fear is a result of our brains going on overdrive and playing out what would happen if the status quo changed, creating scenarios not in our favour and so we try so hard not to upset the present situation so that the worst doesn’t befall us, the worst that we created and somehow believe that is looming.

A lot of people are living in this state and are not even aware of it. The signs of fear are panicking, anxiety and sometimes anger. People panic when they perceive that they will lose what they have, some are ever-anxious of the future because they don’t trust that things can turn out well for them. Why wouldn’t they turn out well for them when they are turning out well for others? When the state is reaching anger that would be a reaction that the person feels that their future is bleak and there is nothing they can do about it but sulk.

You probably know by now that sulking will not change your situation but you need to actually decide how you want your life to play out. Complaining, telling everyone who cares to listen about your issues will only sink you further into your turmoil.

Look for a way out

You know that you are the only one who is responsible for your life so you are the one who can change the situation. No matter how bad you perceive the situation to be, you can start now changing things around. Stop hanging around those people who put you down and work on rebuilding your self-esteem, you will be surprised how you will find yourself attracting people who have the same esteem as you. So imagine what you will be busy attracting as you hang out with people who don’t think much of you.

Walk towards your destiny

What is it that you want to do, be and have in life? How are you planning to achieve that when you are self-limiting and hiding behind fear? How about you drop that fear and self-pity and embark on a self-changing journey that will bring you closer to your destiny. How do you begin? By looking into your true self. Pursue the things that matter to you, those things that you dream of when you do dream. Take the first steps, even if it means just to research about that subject, it’s a step in the right direction.

Feel the fear and do it anyway

Successful people also did suffer from fear but their zeal to make it pushed them ahead. If you are to allow fear to stop you in your tracks you might as well stop living your life because everything in life is risky. Even the smallest project you can think of has the ability to fail but if you concentrate on that then you are building yourself a lot of stumbling blocks unintentionally.

You have to think beyond the fear and build something that you actually believe will stand despite threats or challenges. What’s important is to believe what you are building, not to have more faith in challenges.

Let loose of control from others

We all at times blame others for what we are going through. It’s actually tempting to do that but ultimately the bucks stop with us. Nothing can be done to you or your life without your input. If you were to ignore whatever you don’t want to hear or be influenced by you would realise that you are the only one who actually has the sole responsibility to do with your life as you please at any given time. The mistake you are making is to give attention to others in such a way that what they say or do influences you.

Be your own person. Decide what will sway you and what will not.
