Bearing fruit in every season

AS we step into the final stretch of November, a month of harvest and reflection, we are encouraged to reflect on the beauty of fruitfulness, as revealed in Psalm 1 verse 3: “They are like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever they do prospers.”

God does not just call on us to be fruitful — He equips us to thrive.

The verse quoted above paints a vivid picture of a life rooted in God, one marked by purpose, peace and prosperity.

Let us explore what it means to be like that tree and how we can declare and thank God for His faithfulness in our lives.

The tree in the psalm is not clinging onto dry, rocky soil — it is planted by the living water.

This symbolises our connection to God, the source of life. Just as a tree’s roots grow deep to access water for its sustenance, we thrive when we stay close to God’s Word, prayer and community.

Are you rooted in God’s presence or are you swayed by distractions?

Declare: “I am planted by the river of life. I drink from His abundance.”

The tree does not force growth; it bears fruit in season. God’s timing is perfect. Whether you are in a season of waiting, sowing or harvesting, trust that God makes every moment fruitful.

What “season” are you in?

Declare: “I yield to God’s timing. I will bear fruit in His season.”

Life is not always easy, but the tree’s leaves do not wither. Even in drought, it remains steadfast. God’s strength sustains us through trials. When storms come, declare: “My roots are deep. I stand firm in adversity.”

The promise is not just wealth or success in the world’s eyes; it is purpose. When aligned with God, our efforts bear meaning. Thank God for His plans: “I trust Your purpose for me. I prosper in what You call on me to do.”

This November, let us thank God for the “fruit” in our lives; growth, relationships, lessons and hope.

Like the tree, we are positioned to thrive.

Declare: “I am fruitful. I am rooted. I am blessed. I prosper in God’s timing.”

May we walk in the confidence that, like the tree, we are fruitful, steadfast and blessed.

Let us pray: “Father, thank You for planting us by Your streams. Help us cling on You, bear fruit in every season and trust Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
