UNITED Kingdom-based clergyman, Reverend Walter Chawanda of Sound of Dominion Ministries in partnership with the Primrose Mutsigiri Foundation, last Wednesday donated food hampers to 12 orphans in Village B1 in Hope Fountain, Umguza District.
The Primrose Mutsigiri Foundation, established by former Miss Zimbabwe UK Primrose Mutsigiri, has a long history of philanthropic endeavours. The foundation’s mission is to uplift vulnerable communities, particularly orphans and the elderly.
Speaking during the donation, Pastor Chawanda emphasised the importance of empowering young lives, saying he was optimistic that the donation would help uplift the spirit of the children ahead of the festive season.
“While this donation is small, it represents the bigger work we are planning to do. Today (yesterday), we donated food, but the ultimate goal is to empower these children so that they have a brighter future,” he said.
“I am looking forward to doing more even for the children in other regions across the country. Our vision is big and we have hope that the Lord will guide us as we attain that vision. We hope that these essentials will bring joy and comfort during the festive season.”
The donation comprised bags of mealie-meal, packets of rice, flour, beans, soya chunks, sugar, bottles of cooking oil and snacks.
The children also received bathing and washing soap and petroleum jelly.
Speaking during the same event, Anchor of Christ International Ministries founder, Rev Decide Chauke whose ministry is actively involved in charity work, said they were practicing love and combining faith with action.
“The Primrose Mutsigiri Foundation’s motto is ‘Love in Action’ and that is what we are practicing here today. Preaching the word of God should be accompanied by good deeds because when we are preaching to the people we should also practice what we preach,” he said.
“We are committed to serving the vulnerable and we are currently preparing for our annual blanket drive for prison inmates.’
Patience Mutsigiri Foundation’s representative, Mrs Nonhlanhla Mbambo, urged ithe community and organisations to contribute to charitable causes.
“Every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a significant difference. I want to urge anyone who is in a position to extend a helping hand to do so,” she said.
Village B1 headman, Mr Abednico Sibanda expressed his gratitude for the generous donation.
“This is the first time such a donation has been made to our community. We are truly grateful for the positive impact this will have on the lives of these orphans. I want to urge those who donated to continue with their good works,” he said.
