THERE’S no blood-sucking invasion in Nkulumane!
The Bulawayo City Council has squashed viral claims of a bedbug outbreak as nothing but social media hoax!
A bogus public advisory doing the rounds online had residents itching with panic, claiming that over 300 homes in Nkulumane, Emganwini, and Nketa were crawling with bedbugs and needed urgent fumigation.
The fake notice even claimed people were suffering blood loss and body wounds, urging locals to avoid the “infested” areas. But the city’s Health Services Director Dr Edwin Sibanda-Mzingwane is having none of it.
“The advisory is fake. It was not issued by us,” he said, warning residents not to fall for digital fear-mongers.
While Harare is reportedly battling real bug trouble, Bulawayo remains bite-free — but officials say they’re staying alert just in case.
Don’t scratch the rumour, there’s no infestation here!
