A THORNGROOVE man allegedly beat up his wife for refusing to dish out conjugal rights because their toddler was still wide awake.
Talkmore Magigwana (37) of Hookthorn Street sidled into the Bulawayo magistrates’ courts looking like a man who wished he had simply tried romance instead of violence. He appeared before magistrate Patience Madondo,, facing domestic violence charges and was granted US$50 bail. The matter was remanded to 15 December while the court waits for a medical report.
Prosecutor Methuli Ncube told the court that on 29 November at the couple’s home, Magigwana reportedly requested “quality time” from his wife. She told him their three-year-old son had not fallen asleep yet. That explanation should have ended the conversation, but instead it lit a fuse.
Talkmore allegedly went from lover boy to detective, accusing his wife of cheating simply because she said “not now”. A misunderstanding broke out and, according to the State, Magigwana started raining fists on her all over the body.
The shaken wife rushed to Mzilikazi Police Station to file a report and was referred to hospital for examination. Magigwana was arrested soon after.
Neighbours said if Talkmore had used a little charm, a little patience and maybe even a little cologne, the outcome might have been very different. Instead, he chose fists over flowers and found himself in court instead of the bedroom.
