BEE encourages giving back

As the festive season gains momentum and Bulawayo’s social calendar fills with music and celebration, Bulawayo Exclusive Events (BEE) has launched a donation drive to give back to the community.

The event promotion collective, known for curating high-end experiences such as Garden of House, Byo Under the Sun and Warrinaland, is encouraging patrons attending its events to donate clothes and other necessities as part of the initiative.

Explaining the motivation behind the drive, BEE said the initiative reflects the values the collective has always stood for.

“As BEE, we have always had the goal to uplift one another. The donation drive was born from that spirit, turning our music, unity and platform into a way to give back, uplift lives and prove that our culture truly cares,” the team said.

The organisers believe events can play a bigger role beyond entertainment.
“Events have the power to unite people beyond music and fun. They create shared moments where different backgrounds come together, build connections, inspire purpose and mobilise communities to support causes that truly matter,” they said.

As this is their first donation drive, BEE said they are learning while paying close attention to community needs.
“Through early conversations, we’ve noticed that many orphanages have ongoing needs for essentials and consistent support. That motivated us to focus on practical donations that can make an immediate difference,” the collective explained.

This year’s donations will benefit the Sandra Jones Centre, a cause chosen by a team member with a personal connection.

“Our colleague Linda Mpofu celebrates her birthday there every year and insisted we donate there because she understands what is truly needed,” they said. The drive officially kicked off at HiNDE, a house music event held last month that the team felt strongly aligned with the initiative’s purpose.

“The first batch of donations was delivered to the Sandra Jones Centre on November 28, a day before HiNDE, with more expected ahead of the Garden of House event on Christmas Eve. HiNDE represents unity, culture and purpose.

It brings together people who believe in uplifting one another, making it the perfect starting point to turn an event into a movement that gives back to the community,” they said, adding that the public response has been encouraging.

Looking beyond the festive season, BEE plans to make giving back a permanent feature of its operations.

“As BEE, we’ll be making donations from every event we are involved in. We urge the public to continue bringing donations, as donation boxes will be available at the gates of all our events,” the team said.

As end-of-year celebrations continue across the city, Bulawayo Exclusive Events hopes the initiative will remind revellers that the festive season is also about caring for and uplifting the community.
