Beitbridge man hides dagga in chicken cuts

A 26-YEAR-OLD from Mbedzi in Beitbridge, faced trial at the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court for the illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
On September 27, 2024, police detectives and security personnel were executing an operation named “No to Illegal Cross Borders” at the Dulibadzimu Bus Terminus in Beitbridge. During this operation, they noticed Melusi Ngwenya carrying luggage wrapped in black plastic. They approached him, identified themselves, and proceeded to search his luggage.

In a statement on X the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said, the detectives found four cobs of dagga hidden among chicken cuts, which were also wrapped in black plastic. He was then arrested. The dagga weighed 9.822 kg and had an estimated street value of ZWG 132,508.

The accused person was remanded to the 7th of October 2024 for trial.
