Beitbridge to host inaugural Venda Festival

The city of Beitbridge comes alive when it hosts the inuagural Venda Festival to be held at Dulibadzimu Stadium in August. The festival, which is organised by Ke Nako Media Publishers takes place from August 19-21 and is aimed at celebrating the minority groups found in Zimbabwe.
KMP marketing officer Wilson Mbereko said: “Our aim is to recognise and appreciate minority groups like the Venda people who are often sidelined and we want to explore their culture and support their businesses.

Mbereko said they will also host a pageant where they will crown Miss Venda.

“We are going to get models from the Venda culture in Beitbridge and South Africa and will crown the winner Miss Venda who will be an ambassador of their culture. To help market their idea they are looking for provincial contestants.

“We are also looking for provincial contestants who will be crowned The Parade Queens in their respective provinces.

“We are giving out licences to those that are willing to host the pageant in their provinces.”
