Beitbridge Municipality this week started rolling out a property survey across the town with the view of updating records and enhancing planning and distribution of critical services.
The move is part of the local authority’s initiatives to speed up its transformation into a modern city.
Beitbridge Town was upgraded into a municipality in March 2019 under Government’s drive to upgrade all border towns as well as promote economic and infrastructure growth.
Since then the town has witnessed an infrastructure development revolution in the property investment sector.
It is estimated that the town has over 15 000 properties with more being completed daily.
In a public notice yesterday, town clerk, Mr Loud Ramakgapola said: “This survey aims to update our property records and ensure accurate information for municipal planning and services.”
He said survey teams started moving on Wednesday and that the programme will run until all properties are covered.
The development comes a few months after the local authority began a property valuation.
In a recent interview, the town clerk said the valuation would help the council know the value of all properties in the town and that of the municipality.
In addition, the valuation roll was expected to apportion the value of the land and that of improvements for rating properties.
