FORMER World Boxing Organisation African champion Peter “Sniper” Pambeni has been given another opportunity to lay his hands on an international belt.

The 38-year-old Zimbabwean will fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) African title against Flame Nangolo of Namibia in Windhoek tomorrow. Pambeni who held the WBO Africa title in 2019 has been going about his business quietly but a win against Nangolo will thrust him back into the spotlight. He now fights under Shumba Boxing Academy and his management team is confident Pambeni will land the WBA Africa title.

“We believe Peter (Pambeni) has what it takes to win the fight because these are not uncharted territories as he won the WBO title on the same soil against Jeremia Nakathila in 2019,” said Wesley McDade of Shumba Boxing Academy. Pambeni has won 18 of his 29 fights.

He has eight losses and three draws.

Pambeni lost his last fight via a unanimous decision against Harvey Mkacha of Malawi in April. He now faces Nangolo who is undefeated in 11 fights.

Nangolo will also enjoy a home advantage in this contest. However, McDade believes the experience will carry the day for the Zimbabwean pugilist. In this fight, Pambeni is the more experienced boxer with 18 wins over his opponent who has 11 wins,” he said.

“Our boxer has been performing well in training and is prepared for the fight.

“We have invested in him and we know he will do us and the nation proud with an upset and be crowned the new WBA champion,” added McDade. McDade is a former professional boxer who retired with four wins in six matches. He is now into boxing promotion and management. He also manages upcoming boxer Hillary “Batman” Josamu, son of the late famous boxer Gilbert “Giro” Josamu.
