The ruling Zanu PF in Mashonaland West has read the riot act to beneficiaries of the Presidential Heifer Pass On Scheme amid claims that some are selling the cows at give-away prices.
AT least 80 youths in the province benefitted from the programme last week.
The scheme aimed at empowering the youths and is also supposed to boost national livestock production to ensure food security for vulnerable people, especially in rural areas.
The beneficiaries, who underwent an intensive training workshop in Gweru sometime back, are expected to pass on calves produced by the heifers to other youths.
Zanu PF Mashonaland West chairman Cde Tapiwa Masenda said those selling their cows will be arrested and prosecuted.

“We will leave no stone unturned and there will be no sacred cows on this issue,” he said. “The party will not fold its hands and watch youths derailing President Mnangagwa’s efforts to support youths economically.”
Meanwhile, six District Coordinating Committee (DCC) secretaries for youth affairs in the province yesterday received motorbikes donated by President Mnangagwa during the Munhumutapa Day celebrations in Masvingo.
One of the beneficiaries, Makonde DCC secretary Cde Kathy Chanetsa lauded President Mnangagwa for the gesture and promised to use the motorbike to enhance party business in the district.
