BENJAMIN Lock continues to impress as he booked a place in the semi-finals of the ITF F1 Zimbabwe pro-circuit tennis tournament at Harare Sports Club yesterday.
Lock, who is enjoying playing at home where he is having tremendous support, had one of his toughest games since the tournament began on Monday but emerged triumphant. Taking on eighth-seeded Frenchman, Romain Bauvy, Lock won 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
“It was a tough match but I managed to fight and eventually win, which is good for me,” said Lock.
“I hope to continue with the great performances and it was really hard to come out victorious. I will be ready for the next game and the matches are becoming tough with each challenge.” The tournament continues this morning. Lock will now face United States’ Ivan King, who sailed past South Africa’s Lloyd Harris 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-4.
Harris beat Courtney Lock in the second round. Evan King and Anderson Reed, also of the United States, booked their places in the semi-finals in the doubles after they beat the US duo of William Bushamuka and David Chaplefeh Forchap from Germany 6-2 2-6 (10-6).
