A wish list of technical assistants and a team manager that ex-Warriors striker Benjani Mwaruwari had drawn up if Highlanders had agreed to hire him as their new coach has been revealed.
Recently, Bosso benefactor Wicknell Chivayo pledged an additional recruitment budget on top of his ongoing sponsorship if the club hired Mwaruwari to replace the axed Pieter De Jong.
The Bulawayo giants, however, turned down the offer and are set to unveil a foreign coach next week.
A well-placed source told Zimpapers Sports Hub over the weekend that Mwaruwari had lined up three former Bosso players to take up the positions of assistant coaches and team manager.
“Benjani wanted Zenzo Moyo to take up the post of team manager. Zenzo would have withdrawn his candidature in the Zifa Southern Region elections that he lost had Bosso agreed to take up Chivayo’s offer,” said the source.
Mkhokheli Dube and Johannes Ngodzo were Mwaruwari’s preferred individuals for the positions of assistant coaches, according to the source.
“Now it appears Mkhokheli might be headed to FC Platinum to join Joel Luphahla. Benjani wanted the two to be his assistants at Highlanders.”
Ngodzo is the Gwanda Pirates head coach.
