RIDING on the back of the success of her single, Nguwe Wedwa, Zimbabwean songbird Berita Khumalo has announced that her new album will be released in March this year.
The singeras new album, titled Berita, will be a follow up to Songs of Empowerment, an album that saw her try to bridge the gap between the old and the new when she featured the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi and Hugh Masekela.
Previously, the 25-year-old singer indicated that her next project will stray from the love themes that have brought her fame south of the Limpopo.
a?I was in conversation with Bra Hugh a few weeks back and he told me that he hopes for more rhythm in my songs now because I tend to do a lot of ballads. He said to me that we need more rhythm now because we have heard the ballads and now we want to dance,a? she revealed to new24.com in an interview early last year.
While debuting a video of the acoustic version of Nguwe Wedwa, Khumaloas label Vth Season revealed that because of the success of that song, which has earned high rotation on various radio stations including the likes of Metro FM (where it is still charting on their Top 40 Chart), Tru FM, Gagasi FM, Kaya FM, Lesedi FM and Power FM among others, the time was ripe for another Berita project.
a?The Nguwe Wedwa love song resonated with radio stations and fans across the country and there is so much more coming from Berita this year. The Vth Season team and I are very excited about announcing more from Berita very soon,a? shared Raphael Benza of Vth Season.
