A woman, who said she was betrayed after helping a friend recover her start-up money, has managed to reclaim her funds through the Small Claims Court.
Enate Vimbai Chida said she regretted assisting Edelyn Kaduta, after the latter allegedly took funds from reselling her second-hand clothes in Mbare and then went into hiding.
Vimbai took the matter to the Harare Civil Court, where Kaduta was ordered by magistrate Faina Makumbe to pay the outstanding balance of US$1 126.
According to the judgment, the court granted Vimbai’s claim and ordered Kaduta to pay the amount in installments, at US$300 (or the ZIG equivalent) per month, starting July 18, 2026.
Vimbai told the court that she and Kaduta had entered into an agreement for Kaduta to resale her clothes, explaining that she was struggling to raise money to start a business after her own plans had failed to take off.
