adminAfter months of being dogged by controversy, Justin Bieber is doing his bit for charity — and raising funds for the Philippines by giving fans a chance to “hang out” in the studio and watch him record new music. The 19-year-old pop prince announced the charity effort for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan by saying: “Everyone knows I’ve got the best fans in the world.
“So the moment I heard about the tragedy a few weeks back, I knew I could count on you guys to make a difference.”
In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, Bieber is now partnering with Prizeo to raise vital funds for the relief effort.
Bieber adds: “I’m doing something I’ve never done before: for just a tiny donation to the relief effort, you’ll be automatically entered for a chance to hang out with me in the studio early next year and watch me record some new music.
“I’ll fly you and a friend over to join me in LA from wherever you are in the world. It’s gonna be awesome.”
“I’m so excited to hang out with one of my Beliebers.”
Bieber has already “tagged” a wall in Los Angeles to raise money for typhoon relief in the Philippines — and planned to auction off the spray cans he and friend Milk Tyson used to tag. An autographed photo of the wall will also be auctioned off.
An estimated 13,2 million people have been affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan, and 3,5 million are now displaced from their homes.
This category-five typhoon struck on the morning of November 8 and is now possibly the strongest storm ever recorded.
Donors qualify for different reward levels based on the amount of money they give: For example, US$10 means a video message from Bieber and 10 chances to win the trip to LA, while US$200 is good for a signed photo of Bieber and 200 chances to win the trip.
Money raised will benefit UNICEF, Action Against Hunger and Philam Foundation, which are assisting in the relief effort.
Other musicians have contributed, too: David Byrne is hosted a fund-raiser concert with the cast of his “Here Lies Love” musical about former Philippines First Lady Imelda Marcos, while the Beatles, Eminem, U2 and others donated tracks to Songs for the Philippines, an album benefiting the Philippine Red Cross.
The three charities benefiting from the funds that Justin’s funds raise are Action Against Hunger, UNICEF and Philam Foundation, which are all responding to high-priority needs such as providing food, shelter, medical care, clean water, safe sanitation, and the building of schools.
Some generous Action Against Hunger donors will be matching donations made to the campaign.
The charity effort comes after Justin was this week name named the most searched-for celebrity of 2013.
Whether he’s racing around LA in sports cars, being blacklisted from hotels for his raucous behaviour or partying with Victoria’s Secret Models, Justin has most definitely been hogging the headlines this year.

Justin Bieber’s on-again-off-again girlfriend, Selena Gomez, came fourth, followed by X Factor temptress Nicole Scherzinger and pop starlet Rihanna.
Unsurprisingly, Kim Kardashian also made the top 10, along with “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson and model Kelly Brook.
Film buffs spent the year searching for Robert Downey Jnr in Iron Man 3, followed by Kick-Ass 2 and Despicable Me 2.
