Big Brother enters its final lap

Winter Jazz Festival and then the Winter Warmer Gig featuring the Jamaican dancehall artiste Assassin.
While I spent most of my time at Jazz 105 networking with some old folks it so happened that I missed out on the Assassin show which was, I am told, a party and a half.
I have attended previous jazz festivals and this year it was different. Different in the sense that the crowds are becoming smaller and smaller but the whole set-up is getting better and better.
The reason I am saying all this is because I missed out big time on what I enjoy most and that’s television. You know at times I have little time to stay glued on the small screen not because it’s pretty boring but because I have to go out and see what’s happening in the arts.
This week I’m taking you back to the Big Brother StarGame, which is now in its final week. Hey, funny how time moves.
Sunday’s live eviction show is a must see and this week it was Ugandan Jannette’s turn to leave the house.
The “Small Princess” departure leaves three housemates — Lady May, Prezzo and Kyle — in the running for the whopping US$300 000, and the question is who is going to walk away with that lolly?
If the weekend’s votes are anything to go by then Kyle, who got six country votes, should win hands down with Lady May and Prezzo going neck on neck as they got four country votes each.
But this week is a new week and votes can go either way depending on the mood and popular vote.
My bet is on Prezzo although I know a lot of fans are rooting for Lady May from Namibia. In the interests of gender balancing, I would want to see Lady May winning the prize, but like they say in football it’s not over until it’s over, so let’s just wait and see!
Back to Jannette. The flirty Ugandan housemate had an extensive and sometimes controversial run in the house and who could ever forget her raunchy dances, as well as her love for men. Apparently she earned herself the nickname “Lola Fierce” for chasing after men.
The “Small Princess” survived 11 weeks without being nominated but her lucky streak came to a screeching halt last Monday when Wati and Lady May put her on the chopping block.
Elsewhere on DStv, there are two hot new shows — “Mzansi Love: Kasi Style” and “Blame it on Fame” which is being hosted by the beautiful twins, Hlelo and Ntando Masina.
Mzansi Love: Kasi Style
This is a series that follows the story of six young sassy South African women who are trying to juggle the tricky waters of romance in this modern society. Each episode of the series will feature a variety of leading characters from an aspiring chef to a budding journalist and a marketing executive. Romance will take its toll in this fantastic 6 part series which airs on Tuesdays at 20:30 CAT.
Blame It On Fame 2
The Twinz are back and in this second season of the lovable and glamourous Twinz, Hlelo and Ntando Masina are gracing us with another round of glitz and glamour and even more drama which unfolds in their personal lives. Jonathan, many thanks for your positive review of our programme “Action Power” last Tuesday in the Herald. We, Zimbabwe Deaf Media Trust, are a media for development and advocacy trust and our main objective is the celebration and advancement of deaf culture, sign language and deaf pride in Zimbabwe. “Action Power” is one of our projects and we aim to highlight issues affecting deaf people so that these issues can be addressed holistically by Government and the society.
Basically, our aim is to raise awareness and to ensure that sign language also takes its place among other languages on national television.
