Zimbabweans based in South Africa have a chance to win over R1 million after organisers of Big Brother Mzansi (BBM) opened the reality show to legal residents of South Africa. Big Brother Mzansi 2 will launch on MzansiMagic on March 29 after a successful inaugural edition last year. The show, which some believed was a better deal than the popular Big Brother Africa (BBA), saw beloved spaza shop owner Mandla Hlatshwayo walk away with R1 million, fame and romance.
In a statement, MzansiMagic said this year’s edition would not be limited to South African citizens only as legal residents with South African identity documents would be considered, making Zimbabweans with paperwork eligible.
“If you’re a citizen/legal resident of South Africa and 21 years of age or older (as of 01 January 2015), then you can audition for the show,” read part of the statement.
The hunt is already on for Big Brother Mzansi 2 Housemates with auditions taking place simultaneously in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg on January 31 and February 1. As part of Big Brothers twists, potential Housemates can either audition as individuals or with a partner.
“If you think you and your best friend are entertaining and think you can wow the Big Brother selection team, then make sure you are both at the auditions together. You can pair up with anyone from your brother, sister, cousin, boyfriend, girlfriend, side chick, sugar daddy, neighbour, colleague, you name it, as long as you meet the entry requirements and want to participate.”
Though the actual prize money has not been revealed, Big Brother has hinted the possibility of the winner walking away with up to R2 million.
“If you’re wondering what the prize money is, the answer is that it won’t be less than R1 million, and it could be as high as a mouthwatering R 2 million! That’s all Biggie is saying for now.”
Just like BBA, the reality TV series will be screened daily for 24 hours with Housemates expected to entertain viewers for votes. Voting will only be open to those in South Africa. The duration of the show has not been revealed though it’s likely to last two or three months.
