THE iconic Big Brother Mzansi (BBMzansi) reality show is set to return on January 11, 2026, with MultiChoice’s Director of Local Entertainment Channels, Shirley Adonisi, promising a “bigger and better” Season 6.

Adonisi made the announcement at the BBMzansi Reunion Party in Johannesburg this past weekend, noting that preparations for Season 6 are now in full swing.

While the list of housemates remains tightly guarded, she revealed the shortlisting process is nearing completion.

“Disclosing names takes time. There are a lot of processes before one is granted access to the Big Brother house.

“These include thorough health checks, securing family consent, and resolving any potential issues that might hinder a housemate’s stay,” Adonisi said.

She also hinted that Season 6 will offer more than the familiar rhythms of Saturday Night Parties and Friday Night Games, suggesting a fresh evolution in format or content depth. Although details remain under wraps, viewers can expect a richer, more engaging experience.

The reunion party itself was a landmark moment for the franchise, merging fiery personalities from two of Mzansi Magic’s most explosive seasons — Season 4 Siyamosha and Season 5 Umlilo. This marked BBMzansi’s first-ever combined reunion, a concept Adonisi described as “a long time coming.”

“It was essential to bring these housemates together. We had to try to settle scores from previous editions. The energy and history between these groups demanded this unique gathering,” she said.

The atmosphere at the event was electric, with former housemates dropping hints of reignited rivalries. Notable attendees included controversial podcaster, MacG, fan favourites and controversy magnets such as Eulanda “Yolanda” Monyai, Sweet Guluva, Beekay, Muzi-TheMbuzi, Tyrone, Uyanda and many others.

The explosive four-part reunion special will air on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) starting December 14, hosted by the energetic Smash Afrika.

All this builds up to the main event — the launch of Big Brother Mzansi Season 6 next month, under the powerful theme, Bazozwa. The theme promises housemates who will make a lasting impact, staying true to the show’s tradition of unforgettable personalities, sharp gameplay, dramatic twists, surprise disqualifications, tense evictions, shifting relationships and the coveted Head of House title. — Follow on X @MbuleloMpofu
