The usually sleepy coal-mining town of Hwange will come to life next weekend when Makomo Resources host a gig which will feature top musicians Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, Alick “Baba Sharo” Macheso and gospel couple Baba na Mai Charamba.
The show dubbed Makomo Resources @ 4 will be held at Hwange Colliery Stadium on October 3, to celebrate Makomo Resources’ four years of mining coal.
The mining company, which was the first indigenous organisation to be given a coal mining licence in Hwange, celebrates their success each year.
Organiser of the show Eusabia Rayire of Eumo Promotions said all was set for the show.

“We are excited to be celebrating four years of coal mining in the town. The show is the first of its kind in Hwange. Everything is set and all that is left is for the artistes to come and the fans to fill the venue,” she said.

Rayire said this would be Tuku’s first time to perform in Hwange this year.
“This is a special show for those in Hwange as they will watch Tuku perform live in their town. Most of his fans from Hwange have had to travel to Victoria Falls to watch him and come Friday, they will be with him here,” she said.

Mai Charamba confirmed their participation saying they were happy to be part of the celebrations.
“We promise our fans in Hwange a night to remember as this will be a fitting occasion to celebrate Makomo Resources fourth anniversary,” she said.
Mai Charamba said fans should prepare for a night spiced with praise and worship and ministry from the couple.

“Those who have a heavy heart, and are spiritually and physically unwell should come so we set them free from their bondage,” she said.
Macheso’s manager William Tsandukwa said fans would have an opportunity to sample tracks from his new album.

“We are geared and ready for the show in Hwange. This is our first show there as we last performed there a long time ago. Macheso has completed his new album and fans will sample it on the day of the show in Hwange,” he said.

Last year’s Makomo resources show featured contemporary music sensation Jah Prayzah and his Third Generation Band, Sulumani Chimbetu and the Charambas. Peter Moyo performed in the previous year.
