FOR the first time in the history of the Castle Lager Premiership, all the members of the traditional Big Three — Dynamos, Highlanders and CAPS United — have parted ways with their coaches in the first half of the season.
Kelvin Kaindu, who was the Last Man Standing, fell yesterday when Highlanders announced they had fired the Zambian coach with immediate effect.
Lloyd Chitembwe was the first to fall when CAPS United hired another Zambian gaffer, Ian Bakala, who is attending a FIFA coaching course.
Then, Dynamos fired their Lloyd when Lloyd “MaBlanyo” Chigowe was axed after leading the Glamour Boys to their worst start to a league campaign.
DeMbare are third from the bottom of the table.
Now, Bosso have fired Kaindu.
This shows the pressure that has been mounting on the leaders of the three clubs who have all been struggling since the season started.
The emergence of new boys like MWOS, Scottland and Simba Bhora has dramatically changed the domestic football landscape.
Bosso announced last night that they fired the Zambian gaffer following a disappointing start to the season with Highlanders in ninth place, 12 points behind leaders and reigning champions Simba Bhora.
Kaindu’s first assistant coach, Try Ncube, will take interim charge with Agent Sawu his deputy.
A statement by the club said only Kaindu will be leaving.
“Highlanders Football Club would like to inform its stakeholders of the following changes in its Technical team with immediate effect:
1. The club has parted ways with head coach Kelvin Kaindu
2. First Assistant Coach Try Ncube will, in the interim, head the Technical team assisted by Second Assistant Coach Agent Sawu
3. The rest of the Technical team members will maintain in their roles
“The above changes have been necessitated by the recent streak of unsatisfactory results.
“The club wishes coach Kelvin Kaindu the best in his future endeavours and thanks him for his contribution during his time of service.”
This is the second time that Bosso have parted ways with Kaindu who is the coach who came closest to ending the club’s lengthy wait for the league title.
During the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Kaindu’s Bosso matched eventual champions Dynamos in the championship race, ending with the same number of points as the Glamour Boys, but losing out on goal difference.
