Big Zulu acknowledges LA Beatz pivotal role

South African musical sensations Big Zulu and Sjava, collectively known as “Inkabi Zezwe” have risen to the top of the charts, and during a recent episode of the Sabc reality series Inkabi Zezwe, Big Zulu expressed deep gratitude to Zimbabwean producer LA Beatz (Lazarus Nyashanu) for being a pivotal figure in his journey to fame.

Hailing from Bergville, KwaZulu Natal, Big Zulu has become a powerhouse in the hip-hop scene with hits like Imali Eningi and Amamillion. In the episode, he credited LA Beatz for producing several chart-topping hits within his record label, Inkabi Records.

“I’ve been working a lot with a producer called LA Beatz, and he has been instrumental. He’s the one responsible for producing a lot of hits within my stable, Inkabi Records, including Isginci, Amamillion and Imali Eningi,” Big Zulu shared.

Based in Maboneng, South Africa, LA Beatz who hails from Bulawayo expressed humility at seeing his work recognised on a larger stage.

“It’s a beautiful thing to see your work grow and change lives along the way. Seeing my work and name mentioned on bigger platforms by the likes of Big Zulu — that’s God’s work,” he remarked.

Highlighting their shared commitment to quality, LA Beatz revealed, “The good part about our collaboration is that we are both perfectionists and strict with the type of work or sound we produce. Quality is the number one priority for us.”

Recalling moments of perfectionist debates during the creation of Imali Eningi, LA Beatz chuckled, “I remember debating with him (Big Zulu) on which verse was the best and where it was going to be used. As perfectionists, the song had to be spot-on.”

Beyond their collaboration at Inkabi Records, LA Beatz has established his stable, “AN Entertainment”, housing artists like Vocal03, Jae Little, and MarleyGirl. He recently produced his debut album titled Umphetho Wengubo.

Big Zulu’s recognition of LA Beatz reaffirms the importance of collaboration and mentorship in the music industry, showcasing the impact of their collective perfectionism on the creation of chart-topping hits.
