Midfielders Khama Billiat and Andrew Rinomhota have been left out of the Zimbabwe squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The duo, along with fringe goalkeeper Marley Tavaziva of Brentford development side, are the notable absentees in the 24-member squad announced by coach Michael Nees on Thursday afternoon.

ZIFA said Billiat and Tavaziva have been ruled out through injury while Rinomhota, who has been hunting for a new job after leaving relegated English Football League side Cardiff, asked to be excused as he is finalising a move to a new club.

Vice-captain Marshall Munetsi is also missing due to a suspension.

The Warriors have two key fixtures coming up in the next few days, as they are preparing to face West African side Benin at Alassane Quattara Ebimpe Olympic Stadium in Cote d’Ivoire on September 5 before traveling to South Africa where they host Rwanda at the Orlando Stadium four days later.

Zimbabwe currently sit bottom of Group C with four points. They are still to win a match in the group from six games. The other teams in the group include South Africa, Lesotho and Nigeria.
