BILLNICK Engineering used Mutapa Gold Resources’ inaugural Charity Golf Day at the Country Club in Newlands, Harare, on Friday to showcase its integrated mining solutions to senior executives, mine managers and other players in the mining value chain.
The mining engineering company sponsored Hole 3 at the tournament, using the opportunity not only to support Mutapa Gold Resources’ fundraising drive, but also to engage potential clients and business partners about its growing portfolio of engineering, manufacturing, logistics and security services.
The tournament, held under the theme “Network, Compete, Connect”, attracted more than 150 participants, bringing together mining executives, contractors, suppliers and other industry stakeholders.
Billnick Engineering systems administrator Mr Christopher Mudimu said the company’s participation had opened valuable opportunities for engagement with mine managers and senior management from different mining operations.
“We saw the golf day as much more than a sporting event. It allowed us to sit down with people who make decisions in the mining sector, understand their requirements and demonstrate that Billnick can provide a range of solutions under one roof,” he said.
Mr Mudimu said the response at the company’s exhibition tent was encouraging, particularly after visitors gained a better understanding of the relationship between Billnick’s different business units.
“What really interested many of the people who visited our stand was the link between Billnick Engineering, manufacturing, logistics and security,” he said.
“They realised that they do not necessarily have to look for different companies for each requirement because we can bring these services together.”
Billnick Engineering specialises in environmental engineering solutions for the mining sector, with its services including mine residue disposal, tailings storage facility work, hydro-remining and mine infrastructure development. The company says it provides services across the life cycle of tailings facilities, from design and construction to management and hydro-remining.
The company also used Hole 3 as a platform to interact with golfers and distribute branded merchandise and corporate giveaways, including cooler boxes and other promotional items.
Mr Mudimu said the interaction demonstrated the commercial value of participating in industry events.
“Networking is where business opportunities begin. When you exhibit what you do, people start identifying gaps in their own operations and asking whether you can assist them,” he said..
“That can translate into tenders, contracts and long-term business relationships.”
He said Billnick Engineering was particularly encouraged by the number of mining executives who visited its tent.
“We met quite a number of mine managers and senior managers. The interest shown in what we do was very positive, and for us that is one of the major outcomes of participating in this event,” he said.
“Going forward, this means a lot to us because it is a chance to network. From networking come new jobs, new tenders and new contracts.
“We are confident that those who engaged with us will see the value we can bring to their operations.
