BINGA Football Academy has established relations with My Bro Academy of Zambia, a development that has led to three of their players going for attachment in the neighbouring country.
The three players, who turn out for Binga Football Academy’s Under-18 team are Tadiwa Mhofu, a midfielder, lmprovement Mugande a striker and goalkeeper Syulyalwega Mwinde.
Having notched a mutual working agreement, the academies seek to give their players exposure and open opportunities. This partnership has continued to strengthen interactions between Zimbabwe and Zambia, in which for years, teams from nearby towns of Hwange, Binga and Victoria Falls have benefitted a lot.
Following the three week stay in Lusaka, the young players acquired knowledge and skill that will come in handy in their football careers, according to Binga Football Academy director, Pride Ngwenya.
“We have in the past years been building relations with other football academies locally and in neighbouring countries. This has positioned us well in terms of sharing and acquiring knowledge in some football training aspects. What we appreciate the most are the training attachments being given to players.
“The three boys that had gone to Lusaka came back on Monday last week after spending three weeks in a training camp with My Bro Academy. We are grateful to coach Martin Silwenga the founder and director of My Bro Academy, who invited and took care of the boys in Zambia,” said Ngwenya.
On their return, the Binga Football Academy players shared their experience with their teammates, in what Ngwenya believed was going to be of aid as they prepare for tournaments ahead in the year.
“A debrief was organised team and lighter moments were shared by the three players. They had some time with the other players, telling them about their stay in Zambia and what they learned.
“While in Zambia, they had a chance to visit Heroes Stadium and that meant a lot to them. That inspiration is key in our football development agenda.”
Binga Football Academy’s player development programmes have not gone unnoticed. Talent honed at this institution is attracting attention.
Some of the academy’s players have been called for trials at local Premiership clubs.
In early January, teenagers Pauletta Nguzuzyaleza Mwembe (18) and Clayton Kila Munenge (17) landed contracts with Yadah Stars.
Both players are now on a two-year loan with Yadah, in a deal that sees them first playing for the reserve side.
Ngwenya previously informed Zimpapers S ports Hub of their plans to collaborate with Chicken Inn and Highlanders for player development purposes.—@NkosieLegend
