DEAL gone sour?

A 59-YEAR-OLD man from Binga who was allegedly involved in some unknown deals with unidentified foreigners, is suspected to have been murdered before his body was dumped in a shallow dam.

Silas Muzamba of Mucheni Village, ward 4, under Chief Sinansengwe, was found floating in a less than a metre deep dam.

The deceasedas family suspects he was murdered by his foreign accomplices as he was involved in a lot of unclear deals where he paid large sums of money.

Chief Sinansengwe confirmed the death of Muzamba saying they suspected he was killed and then thrown into the shallow dam.

a?We doubt that Muzamba drowned as the dam is too shallow and we have never had drowning incidents in the Muchena, not even of children. Funny stories have however, surfaced from his family, indicating that the now deceased was engaged in deals, hosting unidentified foreign visitors at his home.

a?His wives revealed that Muzamba had been paying large amounts to the Zambian speaking strangers for deals only known to him and his partners,a? he said.

His two wives, Cholobe Mungombe and Meledia Musaka said Muzamba walked out of their home on Friday at around 7pm after hearing a whistle and he never returned home.

a?He said he wanted to check who it was, but never returned home only for us to hear that he was found dead the following morning,a? said one of the wives.

A villager, Anderson Mudenda (45) who was fishing in the dam on Saturday afternoon, at around 4pm spotted the floating body and alerted other villagers.

Sinansengwe Ward Councillor Elmon Mudenda said Muzambaas death had left them with a lot of unanswered questions.

a?The now deceasedas wives said he was a secretive man and none of them knew what he had been up to but of lateA strangers had been coming to their home and he had given one of them a bunch of money,a? he said.

Cllr Mudenda said on the day he left, his wives never worried themselves as they suspected he had unfinished deals and they both didnat bother to report to anyone, saying it was one of his tendencies of going away for days.

a?On the following day, those who were fishing at the dam saw Muzambaas body. He bled from the nose, mouth, and ears, indicating he had just died.

a?Police retrieved the body, but his family said they had no money to have the body ferried to hospital for post mortem and even if it was done, it was of no help to them. He was buried the following morning at his old home,a? he said.

Matabeleland North police spokesperson Siphiwe Makonese could not be reached for comment. This incident comes barely a week after a man from Binga, again suspected to have been murdered, before his body was dumped by a road side to fake a hit and run incident. Matthew Mudenda (35) of Thomas Mudendaas homestead, Siabangana village, was found dead about two kilometres off the road at the Siabuwa turn-off along the Binga-Kamativi Road. .
