Binga man up for attempted rape

A 23-year-old man from Chinonge Village, Chief Pashu in Lusulu, Binga appeared at the Hwange magistrates court last Friday facing charges of attempted rape.

Gift Ngwenya appeared before regional magistrate Mr Mark Dzira for continuation of trial which began on Thursday. The State, represented by prosecutor Mrs Charline Gorerino alleges that on 10 July 2022, at around 6PM at a bushy area close to Chinonge Business centre, the complainant who is deaf and dumb (25) was walking along a footpath when she met the accused.

As the two proceeded, the accused embraced her and she lost balance falling on the ground. Ngwenya took advantage of that and mounted on top of her, tore her skin tights and tried to have sex with her.

However, in the tussle, the complainant managed to bite his finger and fled. The matter was then reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused. -@5_Shannico
