In the spirit of leaving no one and no place behind, the Second Republic continues to make strides in implementing development in Binga which seek to improve the livelihoods of the communities
Yesterday, Cabinet received a report on the implementation of the development at stages of completion in Binga.
Addressing the Post Cabinet briefing, acting Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere said the projects were being undertaken by Government ministries, departments and agencies to create a better future for the people of Binga.
“In particular, the focus of the earmarked transformative projects is on the development of transport, health, education, infrastructure, empowerment initiatives, information communication technology, water and housing, among other sectors. “Government will continue walking the talk in delivering projects that can transform the lives of all the people across the nation,” he said.
To improve access to healthcare for communities, Minister Muswere said a total of 16 clinics were at various stages of implementation, and expecting mothers’ shelters were being constructed at these sites. Other projects that have to date been completed include the establishment of the Binga Vocational Skills Industrial College, the delivery of two ambulances at Binga Hospital, the rehabilitation of the Binga Airstrip and refurbishment of the mortuary at Binga Hospital.
Government has also facilitated the construction of Chipale clinic, construction of classroom blocks and staff houses at Chibondo, Mulindi, Bulawayo Kraal and Muchesu primary schools as well as carrying out a blitz for the issuance of identification documents to the people of Binga.
“Among the ongoing projects are the rehabilitation of Binga-Kamativi and Binga-Siakobvu roads. Eight access roads were completed for Chiefs Siansali, Pashu, Dobola, Saba, Siachilaba, Siabuwa, Sinampande and Sinakoma,” said Minister Muswere.
He said the construction of houses to replace those lost in the Nsungwale floods was also ongoing, with 37 houses at various stages of completion.
The Second Republic has been drilling boreholes for communities in a bid to ensure provision of safe drinking water for the people.
In Binga, 17 boreholes have been drilled for chiefs, with another 30 boreholes drilled for Binga North and 30 more for Binga South.
Minister Muswere said 31 fishing rigs for the empowerment of women, youths and chiefs had also been delivered to date.
“The Government has enhanced local broadcasting services signals in Binga through the distribution of 68 set-top-boxes. The set-top boxes have facilitated connectivity and saw the establishment of Twasumpuka Radio station,” said Minister Muswere. This station broadcasts in the local Tonga language.
On food security, he said about 110 584 tonnes of maize had so far been distributed to families that required food relief while e-learning and deployment of information communication technology infrastructure was ongoing.
