FORTUNE Binzi is back buzzing.
But, the red-hot Manica Diamonds forward has revealed he had given up hopes on returning to action this season after suffering a nasty injury early last month.
The 25-year-old fractured his left hand radius bone in his team’s 1-0 triumph over Sheasham on July 1.
He was not only riding high as the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League leading scorer with eight goals but was making headlines after becoming the first man to win the league’s player of the month gongs for three consecutive times between April and June.
And despite medical experts ruling him out only for six weeks, Binzi was too distraught and thought he would play no more part this season.
“I would like to thank God for healing me in such a short period of time. The whole process was not that easy. I was actually giving up on playing football again this season,” said Binzi.
“Given the extent of the injury that I had suffered, I really thought it was over and you know with the goal scoring form that I was enjoying, I was really depressed”.
The former Yadah striker said he owes his quick recovery to his faith and guidance of Prophet Walter Magaya.
“I would like to thank Prophet Walter Magaya who was praying for me and always giving me a lot of hope.
“In fact, he promised something very special for me which I would only reveal when the time comes.
“I would also like to thank my family and everyone at Manica Diamonds who stood with me. The period was just too dark for me. I am really happy to be back”.
Binzi marked his rebound with a goal against Triangle in Manica Diamonds’ 3-0 victory over Triangle at Gibbo last Sunday.
He had fallen behind Bulawayo Chiefs’ Obriel Chirinda who covered a lot of ground during Binzi’s absence.
Chirinda scored five times to take his tally to nine goals as Binzi missed five games against Simba Bhora, Cranborne Bullets, Highlanders, Bulawayo Chiefs and CAPS United.
But with Chirinda firing blanks at the weekend against ZPC Kariba, Binzi scored to draw level with Chirinda on nine goals.
And he is eager to maintain the momentum.
“The push continues. For me, the team comes first. I am not chasing any individual glory but team targets. I will be happy if my goals will be handy in Manica Diamonds’ push for their targets.
“Individually, I am very happy with what I have achieved so far this season and I am hoping to do more to help the team.
