A SABBATH International Apostolic Church bishop based in Gwanda was yesterday granted a peace order against an abusive village head.David Tlou, 47, of Bengo area told magistrate Arafat Kozanai that his village head, Keaboka Magaya, was disturbing his peace as he insulted and embarrassed him in public accusing him of being adulterous.

Tlou said he was accused of having an affair with his archbishop’s wife, claims he dismissed as false and malicious.

“The respondent summoned me to his courtyard and he told other villagers that I committed adultery with Ezekiel Ncube’s wife. He even went to an extent of spitting on me saying I’m a dog. I need a peace order because he has a tendency of calling me time and again over adultery accusations which I know nothing about,” said Tlou.

He said although there was no evidence linking him to the accusations, the respondent’s actions had denigrated him.

While Magaya failed to attend court for unknown reasons, magistrate Kozanai granted the peace order in favour of Tlou.

The terms of the one-year peace order state that Magaya should not harass, threaten or insult Tlou.

Kozanai also condemned Magaya for failure to come to court saying he should realise no one was above the law.

“People should learn to respect the courts no matter what positions they hold in society. The respondent, as a village head, should be the one in compliance with orders as he also gives orders in his area. Such behaviour purely shows that he is undermining the courts,” said the magistrate.
