LONDON. — Premier League star, Yves Bissouma, has been bailed after being arrested and marched out of a nightclub in the early hours of yesterday.
The in-form Brighton midfielder, 25, spent the day in custody after being arrested in the city.
He was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning and the reason, for the footballer being taken into custody, was a suspicion of sexual assault.
He has been released on conditional bail until November 3, after he had been detained at The Arch nightclub by officers from Sussex Police, following an alleged incident at around 01:30 local time. “The club was packed as it was a popular student night, especially with freshers in town” the source told The Sun newspaper.
“People were star struck to see Bissouma in the club. He’s Brighton’s best player at the moment, so he definitely caught some eyes.
“They were even more shocked to see him later being led away in handcuffs outside the club.”
Brighton released a statement on the matter, although they did not reveal the identity of their player.
“Brighton and Hove Albion are aware that one of its players is assisting police with the investigation of an alleged offence,” their comment read.
“The matter is subject to a legal process and the club is therefore unable to make further comment at this time.”
Having impressed so much in Brighton’s midfield, the 25-year-old had been linked with top clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.
There was a chance he could have been sold in the January transfer window for a huge fee, but first he must now deal with a legal issue. — The Sun/Marca
